Puzzled by: How to bring some pencil sketch concepts to life?

Solution: Watched a couple youtube tutorials on painting in photoshop, scanned in the sketches (changed my brush to 60% opacity and 40% flow per some recommendations) and layered on the color! Worked out great.

Very puzzled about my 2-year-old who has become a night owl. I guess the solution is to stay up and “hoot” him to sleep.

As a teacher, best student questions are those that puzzle you. If you are design, you can usually sense which answer is the right one, but sometimes is hard to explain why. When you can´t find those reasons, some analogy or metaphor comes in handy. Food, movies or music are my favorites. : )

Puzzled by: How to make clients believe that the artist/designer/illustrator  may have a better solution then what they think it’s best…?
Solution: well… that’s tricky. I’m still wondering about it. But I guess lots of patience and sometimes it’s necessary to show what will NOT work! Maybe you can help me with that never ending question.
    Love your work, Nate!

Puzzled by how artists/designer sustain their creative energy and continuously come up with great ideas again and again! I just couldn’t stick to a project for long, or complete self-initiated work.

Solution: Different things work for different people. I found some things that inspire me to keep creating, including my friends, my mentor, waking up early in the morning and home-cooked food, and trying new styles/techniques while painting! And sometimes what you need is a strict deadline to get the brain running! Its an ongoing process!

I was puzzled about how to enjoy my lonely days and the solution was walking into the beautiful royal gardens only 15 minutes from my house with my sketchbook , my camera, or a book. Now I can’t miss a day without doing it.

    Puzzle
    interminable:

Puzzled about finding a decent apartment (first time moving out, YEAH) in a very crowded town. Found one through a friend’s aunt and BAM. It totally rocks, it’s big and bright and I love it.

  • Sel

I was puzzled about muscle pain and tiredness. Changed my diet and feel way better!

  • De paloma

Nate! Bello trabajo, como todos, siempre.

I’m constantly puzzled by the peculiar habits of my two year old. The other day he was ready to take a bath, but just as he was about to get in the water he rejected in fear. “Oh noooo, Mommy, the bath is not OK” Turned out there was a tiny tiny piece of fluff floating around in the water. Mommy should have known that would make bathing completely impossible! Enough to set off a tantrum…
Then Daddy found a solution: rubber ducky used his magic fluff- repellant powers to make it magically disappear. All better!

  • Mitzie

I’m puzzled how it seems to be a human need to repeat things that have already been tried before by others before gaining the confidence to try something new on our own. These are the lessons I am learning personally, anyway.

Hi! I was puzzled what to leave as a comment…puzzle solved!

  • Betsy M.

    • Why does the smell of our own farts seem, not only tolerable, but sometimes actually gratifying while even your own child’s fart is enough to send us into paroxysms of gagging?

I am still seeking the answer to this puzzle…

  • stephen gilpin

I’ve been puzzled by recurring moments of stress.  It wasn’t until I actually saw those moments as a puzzle to be solved, that I thought of how I might solve that problem… of being so often stressed.  My most common solution has been to ask, “Will this matter in a year, or even tomorrow?”  It’s amazing how often my answer is no, and my problem is solved.

Hey Stephen .. I hear you .. I think to figure out what’s important just think about what you remember from a year or two years ago. Here is a tool I created that you can find patterns in your state of minds .. including stress .. check it out and if you have any question email me … here is the site http://www.proconist.com

I’ve always been puzzled about where creativity comes from.
After half a decade now i have come to the conclusion that there is a little homunculus in my brain who sorts all the incoming messages into the incorrect boxes;  when i go to look for a thing, hey presto, i find  something else, and a new imagining has happened :)
