Biography

Nate Williams, aka Alexander Blue, an artist, illustrator and designer has worked extensively in various facets of the illustration industry with a wide variety of clients. Originally from the Western United States but based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
A student of sculpture, Nate went on to work for ad agencies and then as a designer and art director for Microsoft’s Home and Entertainment division. He worked in the marketing department and on several of Microsoft’s online web properties including Xbox.com and several other successful Microsoft websites.
After a number of years at Microsoft, Nate began to pursue his interest in both fine art and illustration. Five years ago he left the US to travel and learn Spanish in South and Central America, eventually settling in the rich cultural city of Buenos Aires. His illustration work has been geared to both adults and children and has appeared in magazines, advertising, publishing, music, fashion, textiles, home decor, merchandise, posters, social expression and newspapers. His work has been published, exhibited or reviewed in the USA, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Australia, Portugal, Switzerland, Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Chile, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Philippines and Cyprus.
A partial list of clients includes: Converse Shoes, V2 Records, Urban Outfitters, HarperCollins, Cricket Magazine, Seventeen Magazine, Cartoon Network, New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, United Airlines, Egreetings, Fantagraphics, Microsoft, MSN, The Village Voice, Pearl Jam, Complex Magazine and The Utah Symphony. His illustration has also been used by large-scale advertising agencies such as Wieden and Kennedy, and DCA Advertising displaying a confidence in his ability to reach mainstream consumers.
Nate has worked with the charity organization Art With Heart which unites volunteers from the arts to serve children in crisis by empowering them through self-expression and creativity. He has also contributed work to The Truth Anti-Tobacco campaign which works to discourage kids from smoking.
His illustration has been honored by American Illustration, Communication Arts, Society of Illustrators, The Type Director’s Club, The ADDY’S and SILA. He has been featured on adcritic.com and in HOW Magazine among others, and has been interviewed by art and design publications across the globe. He will be a featured artist in the FRESH column of the next Communication Arts Illustration annual issue. He has been the subject of interviews in the following art and design magazines: idPure Magazine, issue #10 - 2007 (Switzerland), Juxtapoz, April 2007 (USA), and DPI Magazine, April 2007 (Taiwan). His work has been covered by a number of web portals and blogs including: Lounge72 and thelittlechimpsociety.
In addition to his illustration and fine art work Nate conceived, designed, programmed, launched and maintains the highly successful illustration community portal illustrationmundo.com.
